1. Introduction

Trace Caller ("we", "our", or "us") is a caller identification and call management application. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and your rights regarding your data. By using Trace Caller, you agree to the practices described in this policy.

2. Information We Collect

To provide caller ID, spam detection, and call management features, Trace Caller requests access to the following data on your device:

Phone & Calls

• Incoming and outgoing phone numbers (for caller ID lookup and spam screening)
• Call log entries (missed, received, dialled calls)
• Phone state (to detect when a call is active)

Contacts

• Contact names and numbers (to display caller names and allow call blocking by contact)

SMS & Messages

• Incoming SMS metadata (sender number, for spam SMS detection)
• Message content is processed locally on-device and is never uploaded to our servers.

Account & Profile

• Name, email address, and phone number you provide when registering
• Profile photo (optional, stored on our servers if uploaded)

Device & Usage

• Device identifiers needed for push notifications
• App usage data for improving features (crash reports, performance logs)

3. How We Use Your Information

• Identify callers and flag spam/scam numbers in real time
• Screen calls using Android's Call Screening Service
• Display an overlay card during incoming calls with caller details
• Maintain your personal block list and call history
• Send push notifications for missed calls and alerts
• Improve spam detection accuracy through aggregated, anonymised data
• Provide customer support when you contact us

4. Data Sharing & Third Parties

We do not sell your personal data. We may share limited information with:

• Firebase (Google) — push notifications and crash reporting
• Cloud hosting providers — secure server infrastructure for our API
• Law enforcement — only when required by valid legal process

Phone numbers are looked up against our spam database over an encrypted connection. Only the number being looked up is transmitted; no other call details leave your device.

5. Permissions Explained

Each permission is used solely to deliver core app functionality. You can revoke any permission at any time from your device Settings → Apps → Trace Caller → Permissions. Revoking a permission will disable the related feature.

6. Data Retention

We retain your account data for as long as your account is active. Call log data displayed in-app is stored on your device only. Server-side data (account profile, block lists, spam reports) is retained until you delete your account. You may request full deletion at any time (see Section 8).

7. Data Security

All communication between the app and our servers uses HTTPS/TLS encryption. Passwords are hashed and never stored in plain text. We apply industry-standard access controls to our infrastructure. No system can guarantee absolute security; we encourage you to use a strong password and keep your app up to date.

8. Your Rights & Account Deletion

You have the right to:

• Access the personal data we hold about you
• Correct inaccurate data
• Request deletion of your account and all associated data
• Withdraw consent at any time by uninstalling the app and requesting deletion

To delete your account, go to Settings → Account → Delete Account inside the app, or email us at support@tracecaller.app with the subject "Account Deletion Request". We will process your request within 7 business days.

9. Children's Privacy

Trace Caller is not directed at children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us with personal data, please contact us and we will delete it promptly.

10. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will revise the effective date at the top of this page and notify you via the app or email if the changes are material. Continued use of the app after changes are posted constitutes your acceptance of the updated policy.
